There is a renewed interest in “The Log Church of Derrynane†written by John D. O’Connell in about 1937. It is “a half-forgotten story of a pioneer parish with a life span of ten years.†My Grandma, born in 1892, remembered the church as being “a pile of rotting logsâ€. The church was located south of Union Hill and north of CR 28. Jimmy Malinski knew the book by heart. If you’re lucky enough to have the book you’re lucky enough. If you come across it...at a second-hand store, garage sale or grandma’s attic get it! If you have Vic Ruhland’s addendum with it? You have a treasure worth it’s weight in gold, that explains it all.
