Verna Ziegenhagen has passed away at the age of 103 on July 16, 2020. She was born in February of 1917, the same year as President Kennedy (1917- 1963) and this writer’s Aunt Madelyne Burns Wolff
(1917- 2018). “Miss Ziegenhagen” taught in Le Sueur country schools for 17 years and for 36 years she taught the 4th grade at Park Elementary in Le Sueur. She is remembered as attractive and well dressed, a gifted teacher, a warm smile and kind personality in the Le Sueur school. Years later, she was spotted socializing with friends a few times at Kay’s Place in St. Thomas. Interment was in the Green wood Cemetery, Le Center.

Taylor, Jackson and Carter Nash, grandchildren of the former General Richard and the present Jeanette Halloran Nash were at Tootie’s in Henderson on Wednesday with their grandparents. It was a hot, humid day. All thoroughly enjoyed waffle cones with their favorite choices: vanilla, lemon-bar or grasshopper flavored ice cream.

Heads up: Three generations from St. Thomas, “Jordan’s Andrew Fogarty is in the running to have one of the best college wrestling careers of any Scott West wrestler...” Andy wrestled at North Dakota State University in Fargo Way to go, Andy! Andy is Bob and Sarah Riesgraf’s lad and the grandson of John and Kathleen Burns Fogarty, His maternal grandmother grew to adulthood in St. Thomas.
